The deadlock between the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), Congress, and other Left Front parties continues as they gear up for another round of discussions on Sunday. Following a virtual meeting of the state committee on Saturday night, the CPM is set to convene with its partner parties to address the unresolved issue of seat allocation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The primary focus of these discussions will be to find a mutually agreeable solution to the ongoing dispute.
The complexity of the seat settlement arises primarily from CPM's disagreement with Forward Bloc over the constituency of Purulia, which has been a bone of contention between the two parties. Purulia holds significance for both the CPM and the Congress, complicating negotiations further. While the Congress leadership has expressed interest in contesting from Purulia, Forward Bloc, a longstanding ally of the Left Front, has been reluctant to relinquish its claim over the seat. The impending meetings aim to navigate through these challenges and potentially pave the way for a resolution, although uncertainties persist regarding the outcome.
